Cornwall Kernow League Going Well

The new, innovative idea for rugby fixtures among the junior clubs in Cornwall has got off to a good start after the foul weather of the opening day on Saturday 8th January 2022. Tribute Cornwall 1 & 2 were completed before Christmas, leaving half the season without further fixtures in any form of competition. This left the Hakes and many other clubs wondering how anything bar a few 'friendlies' would be possible, not the best approach to building up loyalty to the team and the sport in St Ives.

Even better is that St Ives are likely to have a much higher standard of fixture where commitments will be fulfilled. Afterall, The Hakes have gained promotion to Cornwall 1 playing just three matches out of eight, the rest being walkovers.

Unbeaten

St Ives have played just two of their matches, the opening game against Camborne School of Mines being postponed. They are, however, the only unbeaten side in their league of six, with wins at St Austell II on 15th January and against Redruth Reserves at home yesterday. So, it's early days, but currently St Ives are 'in control of their own destiny'. This makes the next fixture at top of the table Bodmin pretty crucial.

Remember, this league is made up of the top 3 sides in Cornwall 1, St Ives and the winners of the reserve teams in the Duchy West and East leagues. So these fixtures will give a good indication of progress for The Hakes.
