At last! Rugby at the Rec.

St Ives 34 - 0 Perranporth

Starved of any local rugby in the town, the sunny afternoon brought many back to Alexandra Road for this Tribute Cornwall 2 league match. With a squad of over thirty players The Hakes were very happy to extend a welcome to second in the table Perranporth.

After a first half of considerable domination all the points were scored, with three tries by man-of-the-match, Neil Corin. The squad is mostly young players from the town with some 'elder statesmen' renewing their acquaintance with the oval shaped ball. The second half, although entertaining, with the visitors putting up good resistance, no addition was made to the scoreboard.

A very busy clubhouse was full of the encouraging sounds of folks enjoying the opportunity to meet again and chat over a drink. It is a shame that with Stithians now leaving the league there are even fewer matches on the calendar, fewer such occasions to look forward to.
