Only one Cornish Fixture

During much of the latter part of last season, when promotion began to look more and more likely, there was often metion of the fact that there would be very few Cornish clubs in the league, should the Hakes 'go up'. In fact, it transpires that the only other Cornish club is Launceston, who finished third last season, after relegation from South West Premier the previous year.

However, if one takes a look back to when St Ives were last in the South West One West league and the situation was no different. In season 2010-11 Camborne provided the sole all Cornish fixture, while in 2009-10 The Hakes were lone representatives. In recent years the number of Cornish clubs has never surpassed three in any one season, notably Camborne (before promotion) and St Austell and Wadebridge (before relegation).

Who do we play then?

Good question. The table below shows the clubs who will continue from last season.

Devonport Services won their play off and join from Western Counties West. Coney Hill were Western Counties North champions. Hornets and Lydney were both relegated from the South West Premier League.

Much further to travel?

The (reasonably) accurate answer is 35% more. Last season the combined distances for away matches was 1300 miles, the longest distance being to Burnham-on-Sea at 162 miles. This season the combined total miles (one way) to the other clubs is 1993 miles.

The table below gives a clearer picture of the distances involved.

Pre-season matches

Saturday 11th August v Camborne (Home) at 3:00pm

Thursday 16th August v Penryn (Away) at 7:00pm

There are two further fixtures against Truro and Redruth yet to be confirmed.
