Cornwall Cup date for Saints' Clash

Cornwall Cup Semi Final date announced

St Austell RFC lost heavily in their Intermediate cup match against Coney Hill on Saturday. The visit to the Gloucester side that are currently topping the Western Counties North league proved a tough ask and the other Cornish saints went down by 65:17.

This loss means that St Austell will be available to play the Cornish Cup semi final encounter with St Ives. This will be on Saturday 17th March at Tregorrick Park. Kick off time is yet to be announced, but a team of three officials has already been selected by the county referees society. This is a week free of league fixtures for either side and gives St Ives a full set of matches in March, three of which are away from home.

Devonport Services lose another

Devonport Services chances of promotion took another knock when they played out another surprising result. This time the opposition was Kingsbridge away. The score ended 12-10 in favour of the home side, leaving our rivals with only a losing bonus point.

The league table now shows all teams to have played 20 matches, with The Hakes ten points clear. St Ives travel to Truro this coming Saturday. St Austell must troop up to Crediton for a potentially tough game. Devonport will want to arrest their poor run with a home win against Wadebridge Camels. Definitely, there are still a few twists and turns to come, but head coaches Paul Thirlby and Rob Elloway can still dream of an unprecedented double.
