St Ives first fifteen were the proud winners of the Tribute Team-of-the-month Award for November 2017. A delighted committee, coaches and players received the award and a crate of Tribute beer from the league sponsors before their latest home match against Devonport Services.

During the month St Ives chalked up convincing home victories at the hands of Truro, 41:19 and Chard 43:5. Their away fixture was the long trip to Burnham on Sea, where The Hakes came through 20:22 to record three bonus point wins and fifteen points. These wins, and a draw and loss by Devonport Services, brought St Ives to the top of the Western Counties West league table.

Our photo, courtesy of Tobi Carver, shows RFU representatives Mike Gee and Dennis Preece passing the well earned and quickly imbibed cans of beer to DoR Joff Rowe, with club chairman, Andrew Baragwanath, keeping a watchful eye.

The Hakes have begun December in equally fine style, with bonus point wins at Crediton and, in the couple of hours that followed this photo, a hard fought contest with Devonport Services.
